Two members of the 2024-2025 Paris Junior College women's basketball team brought home post-season honors, and now red-shirt freshman guard Navaeh Brown and sophomore Blessing Teamer are continuing their education and playing careers at universities.
"I'm extremely proud of both Blessing and Nevaeh," said PJC Women's Basketball Coach Brittany Christian. "These young ladies are the evidence of what's possible when players buy into the process here at PJC. Blessing came in as a transfer and stepped into leadership almost immediately. She handled big moments and tough situations with grace and her resilience is what has gotten her to this accomplishment. Nevaeh's comeback from her ACL injury is nothing short of remarkable. I don't think I've ever seen a person more determined to be great in spite of her adversity. These two have set the bar for what it means to be a Lady Dragon extremely high."
Brown was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIV All-Conference. She stands at number one in the region in made 3s and 3FG percentage, and second in the nation in made 3s. Brown, of Columbia, Maryland, was also named Women's Basketball Coaching Association All-American Honorable Mention.
Brown is transferring to Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I school.
"Obviously this is my second year here, but last year was very traumatic for me," said Brown. "Looking back now, with all the statistics and accomplishments; everything is so great now, but I had to sit with myself and adjust to playing with a new knee and essentially a whole new body. I can give kudos to both of them [Christian and Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Teaunsha Robinson] for being so hands-on with my experience and my recovery. From being in the gym with me every day, to kicking me out of the gym when I was doing too much - I could tell how invested they were in me and truly become family. I love y'all and thank y'all so much. I'm living out my dreams every day."
Sophomore Blessing Teamer of Dallas, Texas was named NJCAA Region XIV Honorable Mention. She is one of only four players that ranked in the Region XIV Top 10 in scoring, rebounding and FG percentage.
Teamer is transferring to the University of Arkansas Little Rock, an NCAA Division I school in Little Rock, Arkansas.
"My journey wasn't as up and down as Navi's but it did have its ups and downs," said Teamer. Coming in, I didn't have a lot of confidence in myself so I want to thank you for just pushing me, believing in me and helping me to be the best that I can be. I really appreciate you [the coaches] and my teammates, we're locked in forever. I'm really grateful for all of you."
