Former Dragon Austin Testerman Signs with Cleveland Guardians

PARIS, Texas — Former Paris Junior College pitcher Austin Testerman has signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Guardians organization, becoming the latest Dragon to join the growing list of former PJC players competing in professional baseball.

Following a successful collegiate career at both Paris Junior College and Georgia Gwinnett College, Testerman established himself as a standout performer both on the mound and in the classroom.

During his time at Paris Junior College, Testerman played an instrumental role in helping lead the Dragons to one of the most successful stretches in program history. He was a key member of PJC’s 2022 conference championship team and 2023 regional championship team, helping the Dragons establish themselves as one of the premier junior college baseball programs in the country.

Over his career at PJC, Testerman made 30 appearances on the mound and recorded 72 strikeouts, providing the Dragons with a dependable arm in high-leverage situations. His impact extended beyond the field as he also earned recognition for his academic excellence, being named a two-time Academic All-American during his time at Paris Junior College.

Following his career at PJC, Testerman continued his academic and athletic career at Georgia Gwinnett College, where he helped elevate an already successful program to even greater heights.

Testerman played a major role in helping Georgia Gwinnett capture back-to-back Continental Athletic Conference Championships in 2024 and 2025, while also helping lead the program to consecutive appearances in the Avista NAIA World Series.

During his senior season in 2025, Testerman delivered his best collegiate campaign, posting a 6-1 record with a 2.85 ERA while striking out 70 batters in 47.1 innings pitched. He started 12 games during the season and recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts against Warner (Florida) on February 8, 2025.

His performance earned him several individual honors, including being named the Continental Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on February 10, 2025, as well as earning Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators and being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times.

“For Austin, this opportunity wasn’t if, it was when. He has faced adversity around every corner of his career and met it head-on each time. Ask any of his teammates who have played beside him, and they’ll tell you there is not a harder worker they know,” said Clay Cox, Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Paris Junior College.

Austin’s hard work, determination, and perseverance that got him to this point are the same traits that will make him successful and help him rise through the professional ranks.
