Bio
Boone Privette is entering his third year at PJC as the Recruiting Coordinator and Pitching Coach. In the two previous seasons, pitchers he trained helped the team set consecutive program records in wins while winning a conference championship and a regional title.
In 2023, Coach Boone helped guide four pitchers to all-conference selections. The staff posted a 4.92 ERA on its way to a 41-win season and a Region 14 North Tournament championship.
In the 2022 season, Coach Boone's work with pitchers and catchers helped guide them to the top ERA in conference and the number two ERA in Region 14. Dragon pitchers and catchers held opposing hitters to a .258 batting average against, while also producing a 31 percent caught stealing rate and the fewest stolen bases allowed in Region 14. Between the two groups there were four All-Conference selections.
Privitte came to PJC in the fall of 2021 after seven years at LeTourneau University in Longview. In 2017 he was named the pitching coach for LETU and in 2018 added the title of Recruiting Coordinator. During his time as Recruiting Coordinator, LETU made three straight conference tournament appearances in 2018, 2019, and 2021 while also having 21 All-conference and 13 All-tournament selections.
In 2018, LETU advanced to an American Southwest Conference tournament red bracket final appearance. In 2019, the team again established itself near the top of the conference as it finished second in the ASC tournament.
The Yellowjacket staff saw steady improvement during Privette’s time as pitching coach. In the 2021 season the staff finished third in conference ERA, second in K/BB ratio, first in saves, and had three starting pitchers finish top 10 in conference ERA. Holding runners was another successful stat line for the LETU staff in 2021 as they finished second in conference in stolen bases allowed and attempted.
He played two seasons at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster before transferring to LETU. During his time at Cedar Valley, Privette played under Robert Dally and was a conference starter. In the 2013 season, he was a part of the team that made a District C Region 5 tournament appearance.
After transferring to LETU in 2014 he played under Robin Harriss. He received several accolades for his performances on the mound. In 2015, Privette was a part of the staff that finished second in the country in team ERA. In 2016, he was named LETU Pitcher of the year, second team All-ASC as a starting pitcher, and received a conference Pitcher of the Week award. He was twice named an academic all-conference selection for his success in the classroom.
Privette lives in Paris with his wife Ashley and daughter Taylor.
